A speech course for people who stutter
An intensive four-day course that gives you practical techniques – and the courage to stop holding back because of your speech.

Next course
Aarhus
29 January – 1 February 2026
Duration
4 days
Thursday 08:00 – Sunday 14:00
Who it's for
Age 14+
Anyone over 14 who stutters
The challenge
You swap words, put off phone calls and say less than you'd like to. It works in the moment – but it makes your stuttering bigger.
The fear of getting stuck decides which situations you say yes to. The phone call, the meeting, the presentation – you know exactly which ones.
When things have to move fast, everything tightens up. You rush to get through it – and lose control of your breathing.
A good match
The McGuire Programme is hard work. That's also why it works for people who are ready.

The course is for anyone over 14 who stutters – teenagers and adults alike.
The goal is eloquence: saying what you want to say, when you want to say it.
Many people come to us after trying other routes. Here you get practical techniques and practise them in the real world.
The days are long and intense. The daily practice afterwards is what keeps your new habits in place.
On the course you go out into the real world – on the phone, in the street and in front of an audience – with the group behind you.
Course overview
Four days. Thursday 08:00 to Sunday 14:00. Each day builds on the one before.

Part of the family
I'm so glad to be part of McGuire – soon I'll have been in the programme for more than 10 years. It's the best thing I've done for myself and my speech.

How you succeed
All our instructors stutter themselves and have been through the course. They know what it takes.
Long days of practice in real situations – and daily practice once you are back home.
You learn to use your breathing to steer your speech, and you get practical techniques for moving on when a word gets stuck – instead of swapping it for another.
The course ends on Sunday. The support doesn't. You become part of a network that is there when you need it. You also get a personal coach, carefully chosen to match your personality.
The goal
You won't be "cured" in four days. You get the tools to speak the way you want to – and a plan for keeping it up.

Control of your breathing and voice through costal breathing and the techniques.

Walking into the situations you used to avoid – instead of finding a way round them.

Letting go of the shame and fear that have followed your speech.

A new view of yourself: as someone who says what they want to say.
